Itinerary
Start from Negombo or Colombo 7am. Take a 2 hour drive to Pinnawala.
Then spend 2-3 hours at the orphanage
and watching the elephants bathe in the river.
Return back to Negombo to Colombo for dinner.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is situated northwest of the town Kegalle. Halfway between the present capital Colombo and the ancient royal residence Kandy in the hills of central Sri Lanka. It was established 1975 by the Sri Lanka Wildlife department. They are herded twice a day to bathe in the river.
This 24 acre site is also a breeding centre for elephants. Twenty elephants have been born there since 1984. It has the greatest herd of elephants in captivity in the world.
