On this superb 5 day cultural tour to get to see baby elephants, experience ancient cities and temples and have a Jeep safari through a national park. This must tick many items off your bucket list!

Day 1 Pinnawala & Dambulla

Your Cultural Tour starts early morning at 7 am. Drive to Pinnawala. Visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. The milk feeding of the babies is between 9.15 am to 9.45 am. Afterwards you can watch the elephant bathing at the local river between 10 am and 12 pm.

Established 1975 by the Sri Lanka Wildlife department. Both orphaned and injured elephants are looked after in natural surroundings.
Afterwards, drive to Sigiriya via Kurunagala. On the way we stop for lunch. After lunch reach Dambulla. Visit Dambulla cave temple.

Dambulla cave temples, also known as the Golden Temple is a World Heritage Site which is located in the central part of Sri Lanka. Located 148 kilometres east of Colombo and 72 kilometres north of Kandy. Home to the Cave temple dedicated to Lord Buddha with its magnificent Buddha images and vivid rock paintings of vivid colours. First painted around the 2nd Century BC and continued up to the 18th Century. Therefore showing an unbroken line of history and painting styles of Sri Lanka through 2500 years.

After visiting Dambulla rock temple we drive to your hotel in Sigiriya & stay overnight in Sigiriya.

Day 2 Anuradhapura

After Breakfast at 8am we drive to Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura dates back to the 3rd century B.C. It was the ancient capital of SriLanka. Visit Sri maha Bodhi which is the oldest tree in the world. The Ruwanweli Maha Seya is a stupa which is considered as one of the world’s tallest ancient monuments, standing at 103 metres and with a circumference of 290 metres.

In addition to the stupa, is the Thuparama dagoba. This is one of oldest Buddhist temples in the world. Built in the 3rd century B.C. With its timeless ruins, the sacred city of Anuradhapura really reflects Sri Lanka’s historical heritage and is a place not to be missed on your Sri Lankan experience.

Visit Sri maha bodhi. This is the oldest tree in the world. The Brazen Palace. Ruwanveli seya dagoba. This is the biggest dagoba in Sri Lanka. Thuparama dagoba. The oldest dagoba built in the 3rd century B.C. Followed by many other sight-seeing highlights of this ancient site.

After visiting the city we stop for lunch and proceed to Mihintale. Visit Mihintale monastery complex built in the 3rd century B.C.
After our amazing tour of Anuradhapura we visit Mihintale. This is the place where Buddhism was established for the first time in Sri Lanka.

See the ruins of an Ancient hospital, Refectory hall, Lion pond, Cobra pond, Ambastale, and the Mihindu cave. Afterwards, proceed to Aukana to see the highest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka. It is one piece of granite that is 13 metres high and was built in the 5th century A.D.

Finally, after visiting Aukana then proceed to Sigiriya. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 3 Polonnaruwa & Minneriya Jeep Safari

Your Elephant & Cultural tour continues at 8:00 am. After breakfast visit the many sights of the Polonnaruwa ancient city.

Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka in 993 AD. The monumental ruins of the fabulous garden city dates back to the 12th century.

Lunch & Afterwards, proceed to Minneriya national park for a Jeep Safari
We take a fantastic Jeep safari through the park. During the tour, you will get the chance to see some amazing creatures, such as loris monkeys and the famous Minneriya elephants!

After observing these magnificent animals. We continue the safari by witnessing the large variety of birds, such as herons, pelicans, and ibis. These species usually refresh themselves in the lakes of the national park, where we will also see enormous buffaloes and Sri Lankan crocodiles.

After safari return to hotel. Overnight stay in Sigiriya

Day 4 of the Cultural Tour, Sigiriya & Kandy

Start at 7:00 am early morning. Climb Sigiriya rock fortress.

Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress, which is located in the northern Matale District. Near the famous town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. From the summit you can see distances of up to 12km. The famous frescoes of the “heavenly maidens” are painted on the western face of the rock. The rock overlooks the fountains of the western water garden which normally come alive during the rainy season.

Afterwards, return back to your hotel.

After breakfast, proceed to Kandy. On the way visit a Spice garden then have lunch
After lunch, we drive to Kandy. Take a little walk around Kandy Lake & Enjoy an evening Cultural dancing show.

The Kandy Cultural Dance Show is a stimulating Dance & Cultural Heritage Show that is a must see for any visitor who visits the historic city of Kandy. It started in 1982. The first Cultural Dance Show of its kind to be established in Sri Lanka. Now it has since become a tourist attraction for many people visiting the country and who are keen to witness its rich cultural heritage. The show has been performing continuously for the last 35 years.

Overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 5 – Kandy

Start 8am.Visit the famous Temple of Tooth.

Afterwards, we visit Botanical garden. The botanical garden in Peradeniya is known as the most beautiful garden in Asia. See one of the highest birch fig trees on earth. Explore over 4.000 different kinds of plants in an area of 60 hectares.

Followed by a short city walk and some shopping experience.

Late afternoon your elephant and cultural tour reaches a conclusion as we drive back to Negombo or Colombo.
