2 day Kandy, Elephant, Temple & Rock tour

Itinerary for 2 day tour

Start from Negombo or Colombo at around 7.30am. Take a 2 hour drive to Pinnawala. Spend 2-3 hours with the elephants. Then visit Botanical Garden. Take Lunch. Watch Kandy Cultural dancing show. Afterwards Visit Tooth relic temple. Stay overnight in a Kandy hotel.

Next morning after breakfast. The tour starts at 8 am with a visit to Dambulla cave temple, then drive to Sigiriya. Have Lunch and then afterwards climb Sigiriya rock then drive back to Negombo or Colombo.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Pinnawala orphanage is located close to Kegalle. Established 1975 by the Sri Lanka Wildlife department. Both orphaned and injured elephants are looked after in natural surroundings. The main highlight is the daily track of the elephants down to the river where you can watch them taking a bath. In addition to this, you will have the possibility to watch the baby elephants being fed milk by hand.

Kandy

Kandy is a large city in the central of the island, once the capital of Sri Lanka. Set on a plateau surrounded by mountains and bio diverse rain forests. The city’s heart is the Temple of the Tooth and take a stroll around scenic lake.

Peradeniya Botanical garden

The botanical garden in Peradeniya is the most beautiful in the whole of Asia. You can explore over 4.000 different types of plants in a beautiful maintained garden of 60 hectares.

Dambulla

Dambulla cave temples are an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Home to the Cave temple dedicated to Lord Buddha with its magnificent Buddha images and vivid rock paintings of vivid colours. First painted around the 2nd Century BC and continued up to the 18th Century.

Sigiriya

Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress, which is located in the northern Matale District. Near the famous town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. From the summit you can see distances of up to 12km. The famous frescoes of the “heavenly maidens” are painted on the western face of the rock. The rock overlooks the fountains of the western water garden which normally come alive during the rainy season.
