Important Information About Renting a Scooter in Sri Lanka
Pick-up & Drop-off: You can collect your scooter at the airport or Negombo for free. Drop-off is also possible at the same location. Pick-up or drop-off in other cities may be arranged at an additional cost.
Payment: Full rental price + deposit is payable at pick-up in EUR, USD, or Sri Lankan Rupees. If you require the Sri Lankan driving permit in advance, the permit fee can be paid via bank transfer.
Driving License Requirements: An international driving license alone is not sufficient. You must have a Sri Lankan driving permit to legally ride a scooter in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka Driving Permit
The permit is an official document issued by the Automobile Association of Ceylon (AAC) that authorizes you to ride a scooter. It contains your name, nationality, passport photo, and information about the vehicle you are permitted to drive.
