Muthurajawela Boat Tour

The Muthurajawela Marshes are situated just south of Negombo and cover an area of approximately 6,000 hectares inclusive of the Negombo lagoon. The daily high tide brings in seawater from the ocean into the wetland. Continuous mixing of these two waters for thousands of years has led to a brackish, integrated coastal ecosystem that is biologically diverse and teeming with life. A variety of mangroves and other types of flora including medicinal plants are found alongside numerous types of birds, butterflies and fish, some of which are endemic. Crocodiles, monitor lizards, and Sri Lanka’s largest snake, the Python, are also native here.
Negombo Fish Market & City Tour

The Negombo Fish Market is the second largest and most spectacular fish market in Sri Lanka . The local people call it Llelama. The fish market is situated near the Old Dutch Fort Gate and is held every day except on Sundays. You should not miss this impressive sight.

A city tour to the most impressive sights of the town including the picturesque harbour will complete the day before you return to your hotel for a walk along the beach and a refreshing dinner.

Day 02 Negombo / Pinnawala / Sigiriya

After breakfast you leave for Sigiriya. En route a visit at the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala. In the afternoon a tour of Sigiriya; climb the amazing rock of Sigiriya with its impregnable palace fortress built in the fifth century and enjoy the breath-taking views over the once magnificent royal pool, the throne, remains of the majestic palace, walk ways and the gardens.

Day 03  Sigiriya / Dambulla / Matale / Kandy

After breakfast you will be leaving for Kandy. En route a visit at the Dambulla Cave Temple. Like Sigiriya, Dambulla is a vast isolated rock, which houses a rock temple (formerly hermit caves). Some of its frescoes are over 2,000years old – and there is a colossal figure of the recumbent Buddha caved out of the rock, some 14 meters long. In the afternoon we visit the city of Kandy; Sri Lanka’s hill capital is, perhaps, its most beautiful town on the island. It is 488 meters above sea level, and next to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s most visited place. The focal point of the town is the golden-roofed Dalada Maligawa Temple, where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined. Kandy is an exciting place for shopping, with souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, and bronze. Ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery and rush and reed-ware can also be found. In the evening watch a cultural performance by traditional Kandyan Dancers and drummers.

Day 04 Kandy / Peradeniya / Nuwara-Eliya

Time to leave for Nuwara-Eliya in Sri Lanka’s hill country. En route a visit at the Peradiniya Botanical Garden, with its amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers as well as a Tea Plantation. In the afternoon a city tour of Nuwara-Eliya. Set in the heart of tea-country, this beautiful town is where the British succeeded in creating an English countryside, with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne. Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church, and the famous golf course and beautiful parks given the place an air of real nostalgia. Situated 1,890 meters above sea level, the air is cool and fresh  a serene retreat. The perfect backdrop for your honeymoon in Sri Lanka. Acres and acres of tea with its lush green foliage extend miles across the hills.
