Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
Pinnawela orphanage is situated northwest of the town Kegalla and was established 1975 by the Sri Lanka Wildlife department. At this place orphant or injured elephants will be cured in naturally surrounding. One highlight is the daily track of the elephants down to the river in whom you can watch the elephants taking a bath. Furthermore you will have the possibility to watch the staff feeding the baby elephants or you can also support them. This 24 acres large elephant orphanage is also a breeding placefor elephants. More than 20 elephants were born here since 1984. This complex shelters the biggest herd of elephants in captivity in the world.At the elephant riding, you can ride on the back of an elephant and enjoy the landscape.
Tea factory and plantation
You will visit a tea plantation in the highlands and you can close witness how the tea will be picked and continuous proceed in the tea factory.
Peradeniya Botanical garden
Kandy is a large city in central Sri Lanka. It’s set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforest. The city’s heart is scenic Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake), which is popular for strolling and the Tooth Relict Temple (Sri DaladaMaligawa). In transmission it is said, that the left canine of Buddha is laying here. It is the highest sacred temple in Sri Lanka. To the canine’s honor the people celebrate an annual festival called EsalaPerahera. The tooth will be carried at the festival through the streets of Kandy by elephant. The tooth relict temple is a place of pilgrimage for Buddhism.
